COVID restrictions at cancer treatment centres have made it almost impossible for us to reach the people who need us. We’re appealing direct to the public to spread the word about Flourish, our new art course for anyone facing cancer at this time. Backed by Macmillan Cancer Support, these art sessions are now open to anyone in the county going through or recovering from cancer treatment.

Lockdown has been extremely tough for people shielding. Many are facing a long, cold, lonely winter, but we’re offering a chance to get creative with people who care. This FREE 10-week art course is delivered safely online. Participants will be guided by a trained artist as they explore making, drawing, and painting with others in the same boat. No skill or talent in art is needed – this is just a chance to share experiences, make new friends, focus on something positive and process thoughts.

Anyone facing cancer and in need of a lift at this difficult time can choose between two courses starting on either Monday 16 November (2-4pm) or Thursday 19 November (10.30am-12.30pm).

You can now refer yourself into Flourish. Contact 03000 200102 or to check you meet the criteria and secure your place.

In the words of a previous participant, ‘this has made me feel better physically and my sleep has improved.’

We know from feedback that these art sessions can help recovery. Find out more here about the evidence of the benefits to health and wellbeing.

Huge thanks to Macmillan Cancer Support for making this possible.

For adults living with mental health challenges and/or a long-term health condition, Artlift is a creative and safe space for them to recover because of the experience of the artists, the relaxed atmosphere, and the small groups.
