Celebrating 20 years of Arts on Prescription!

by | Sep 28, 2026 | News

Twenty years ago, Gloucestershire helped pioneer a movement. Join us to celebrate!

From 12–5pm on Tuesday 10th November, Artlift will be celebrating two decades as a Creative Health pioneer, alongside our past and present participants, Artist Facilitators, Trustees, volunteers, co-producers and partners.

The Bon gallery, part of the University of Gloucestershire’s Arts Health & Wellbeing Centre, in their Kings Square City Campus in the heart of Gloucester, will be filled with the warm, creative energy that’s become known as the Artlift welcome.

Drop in any time between 12 and 5pm and discover the ‘magic ingredients’ of Arts on Prescription:

  • Flexibility and choice – join us at a time that suits you, no fixed schedule
  • A chance to get creative – have a no-pressure, no-judgement go at making, playing with words, exploring movement, or finding your voice
  • Inspiration and information, including:
    • An exhibition of powerful artworks from contributors to Flourish Magazine, Artlift’s publication by and for people impacted by cancer
    • Projected artwork and words created by participants and Artist Facilitators
    • Films and talking heads sharing the participant voice, first-hand
  • Fresh insights, as we share our wealth of research and celebrate our long-standing partnership with the University of Gloucestershire
  • Good company – plenty of opportunities to catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and share some nibbles and drinks

This event sits within a wider celebration of Gloucestershire’s pioneering role in shaping the UK’s Creative Health sector; a chance to spotlight the shared achievements of the Gloucestershire Creative Health Consortium, and look ahead to what the next 20 years will bring.

It’s also part of The Music Works’ Creative Futures Week 2026, bringing creative organisations across Gloucestershire together to meet, share ideas, and imagine where creativity can take us next.

Coming along? Please e-mail ayana@artlift.org and we’ll let you know how to book on.
