Altered Books

On this course artist Amy Freeman will help you to tap into your creative side through the chance to explore different mediums and processes, like image transfer, leaf printing, Papier-mache modelling, simple printmaking, and Cyanotype photo processes.

An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance and/or meaning. We’ll take an old, new or recycled book (or multiple books) and modify them in various ways, such as cutting, tearing or folding, or embedding objects.

You don’t need any experience of art – these will be gentle taster sessions, drawing on simple techniques. However, if you’re a confident creator, you’ll still find new ideas, inspirations, and techniques.

This 10-week course runs on Mondays in Artspace Cinderford from 4 October to 13 December 2021 with a one-week break in November.
